World's WORST parenting day (not by a long shot, but still)...
Kid walked friend home without permission, ended up lost, luckily found a NICE neighbor lady to walk him home--AFTER I had been to the school looking for him (school was prepared to call 911). I found them halfway as I drove around (I had a tip from another person).

I'm still shaking. :scared:

Now he's home safely, lady has been thanked profusely, and he hasn't turned in his homework. Let me mention my REMARKABLE restraint here...

It DOES get better, right?

3. It does, BUT, sometimes it gets even WORSE, first
Our middle son disappeared for FIVE DAYS...he was TWELVE.. He went surfing to San Onofre with a bunch of 18 yr olds, and he didn't "ask" us, because he "knew we would say NO".. well. D U H !!!!

Everyt time the phone rang, I was sure it was a deputy calling to have us come and ID a torso found in a ditch..:scared:..

That was just the beginning...:(

Of course, now he is 27, and on his own in Seattle.

We always said that if Michael survived until he was 21, he would probably be ok....Luckily we were right :)

I have many gray hairs on my head from him :)

4. As you can see it does not necessarily get better!
I just talked to the kids Mom after demanding that he keeps trying to reach her. Apparently this is"normal" behavior in this household! My son has already gotten several small lectures, but he is in for a BIG one after Mom picks up this kid! Thanks, BTW, I have oft been accused of being a little too strict, but I cannot believe there are parents like this out there.

5. I had to put the end to one of my son's friends, too.
The kid was pretty much neglected, seriously, but he had no respect for any adults.

Better too strict than, well, let's not go there?!

I feel bad, my kid was a source of stability, but I gotta look out for no 1 (I'm no 2, of course!).

6. Sadly, I think my son was a source of stability too, but
I agree wholeheartedly. This is going to come to an end. They can play at school, but I'm not taking responsibility for this woman's child. She just picked him up and she is a single mom of identical TWIN BOYS. I feel bad for her, but she needs to get a handle on these boys. I didn't even know there were two. There have been other issues with this kid in the past. I should have known better. I am sort of wondering if it was THIS one or the OTHER one that tried to convince me to drop my son at the movies without adult supervision by telling me his Mom would be there. He wasn't too thrilled when my husband and I decided to attend at the last minute!

Oh well, chalk it up to another valuable lesson learned. Another day another crazy situation!

7. When my kid was 4 a neighborhood girl who was 8 and
never supervised took her out of our yard. They went missing. Fortunately my husband was home and not me because I would have died from anxiety. He and the people next door went looking for them. Finally they came walking down the street after a little over an hour. My husband took the girl home. No one was there.

Later the father was home and my husband went back and the guy screamed at him then around 3 in the morning the mother came knocking at our door screaming. She said that our daughter was to blame because she was smarter. Oh really. Then she said that we were going to have problems later with her because we were over-protective. Oh really.

And these people are extremely wealthy, heirs to a large fortune. kids all in private schools.

We forbade our daughter having anything to do with that family.

She's 12 now and nothing else has ever happened. I'm not looking forward to the whole car + dating thing. Yuck!!
