A good free screen capture program?

Does anyone know of a really good screen capture program that is free? I need to get some screen caps badly for a law suit I might be filing shortly, and can't find any decent free reliable programs.

5. in OSX, Command-shift 4 to capture an area you want to capture.

Command-shift 3 to capture the whole screen.

With the Command-shift 4 the cursor will turn into a target. Click, hold and drag over the area you want to capture.


the files will be named picture 1, picture 2, and so-forth

6. FastStone Capture

I've used many such programs, but FastStone Capture is my favorite. Up until a few weeks ago, this software was freeware. It is now shareware, but you can still download the free version at http://www.divshare.com/download/1448754-6ce.

BTW, FastStone has a great freeware image viewer, too.
