A tech support organization I work with uses Microsoft IIS as their FTP server for transferring files to/from customers and prospects.
Problems: * Setup for new accounts is cumbersome. Create ftp directory, create ftp user, etc. * No way to automatically follow up and remove old unused accounts, they just accumulate. * Limited access to the console of the server (Microsoft admin Terminal Services). to name a few.
Anyway, what I'm looking for is an open source FTP server that has a web-based configuration interface. The FTP server needs a certain number of "fixed" accounts for support engineers, but also the ability to generate "temp" accounts for customers and prospects that expire and/or delete after a specified amount of time. The web-based config isn't absolutely required but would be extremely nice as not all the users will have Linux/command-line experience.
Does anyone know of an FTP server package that can do that?
On edit: I probably didn't make it clear, I intend to run this replacement server on an open source platform, not Windows. Likely FreeBSD.
