Pandigital Novel (Android Tablet)
http://www.pandigital.net/pandigitalnovel

I got this thing yesterday. As much as I tried to justify even the 499 for an IPAD, (I got to read an SL of PDFs and yes the IPAD PDF markup apps are amazing... hell I got one on my TOuch)... I just could not.

I've read the reviews for this thing over and over at places like Endgadget. So I decided to read USER reviews... I mean us geeks and users are two different animals. Users are mostly pretty happy with it.

Now pluses, it can be hacked, it has been hacked. It has been fully rooted, and also had it's home screen replaced.

But the way it comes, without any futzing whatsoever, it loads my Barnes and Noble Books very well, thank you and marks my PDFs very nicely...

I may still hack this thing, and yes there is even an official hack. That way I might be able to install kindle and evernote... perhaps writing nook... or just leave it as is. (Realize as is it is somewhat still limited on what it can do... I mean it don't even have a decent note taking program, but it CAN access Google docs and writing nook and a few other cloud environments... and wifi is pretty much every where. Be advised the wi fi is a tad finicky and do carry a paper clip with you since at times it does freeze. By the way so has my Ipod, so there.

It is a little heavy, so you will need a table or legs, but yes it does EXACTLY what I wanted this for.

It also has a calendar and all that for those wanting to use that part of the apps already installed.

So if like me you cannot justify the cost, well this, or future android tablets might be in order. (And no, there is a certain Samsung toy that is even more expensive than the most expensive Pad, without a contract, rumored so far of course.)

Now tapping feet in joy, my eyes will stop bleeding while read all them PDFs, which were also loaded very easily in the stock home screen.

1. Well I guess I will do the official hack
The PDF misses just one thing. And I will be able to get kindle as well. And hack might mean less finicky wi fi.

3. Well after what was a spectacular SD railure
Yes, kept corrupting the SD card... and oh seven or eight tries to reflash the device, it went back to ... Bed, Bad and Beyond.

It is NOT android. It is lousy hardware.

I guess now I will look at the IPAD... even though I keep saying they are charging way too much.
