Ubuntu 11.04 alpha 2 has been released today
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/natty/alpha-2/

I plan to download it tonight and install it first thing tomorrow morning.
I've got 10.10 on another partition where I have my AutoCad install where I do my design work but for my everyday web browsing I've been using 11.04 alpha 1 and have been eagerly awaiting this alpha 2 release as alpha 1 was pretty buggy. Nothing I couldn't handle but if you live on the edge you have to be prepared to get your hands a little dirty from time to time.
Anyways I thought I'd let anyone who may be interested that the alpha 2 is out and ready to download. I went to download it earlier but it was running too slow for me so I'll wait until I turn in for the night to download it. Trouble is I'm like a kid on Christmas eve when it comes to these ubuntu distro releases and will be up early eagerly wanting to burn and install this.

2. Latest alpha looks pretty good. Not everything works yet.
I don't like unity and wasn't excited by the prospect of selecting "ubuntu classic desktop" from the basement menu bar on login -- but System >> Administration >> Login Screen allows you to select "ubuntu classic desktop" (ie: gnome) as default. The gnome panel has been cleaned up: but everything you expect is available by clicking at the tiny black triangle under the ubuntu icon in the attic menu bar -- which leaves plenty of space to customize the menu bar with launchers for your most-used apps
