The Story of Linux: Commemorating 20 Years of the Linux Operating System


Linux is celebrating its 20th anniversary. To commemorate, the Linux Foundation created an infographic that highlights events in the past 20-years from the open-source movement. its also launching a video contest that will be judged by Linux founder Linus Torvalds.

2. My first linux was RedHat 3.0.
Lots of blood spilled in that effort.

Good God, that was hard to configure.

3. I played with RedHat back in the day
but eventually gave up. Ubuntu is what sold it for me.

5. Mine was a Slackware version whose number I don't remember.
CD came in a book, so it was probably already outdated when I first installed it. It was 1997. I do remember the kernel version -- 2.0.27.

4. I tried several different flavors
kinda liked pclinux but it was Ubuntu that done if for me. I've been using ubuntu for over a year now and see no reason to ever go back to microshaft for anything. Once I got AutoCad working I knew I'd never go back to billyboy gates and his unamerican ways.
I really do need to send the ubuntu team some money, after all I spent over a thousand bucks with microshaft starting with dos 3.1

With J.R. Bob Dobbs on the CDs instead of Tux.
