I recently re-found this application and thought I share it with other users (Windows only, see below for Linux).

It seems to be available in the debian repositories; in arch, it's available via AUR

I've been using Visdir, which is clunky as all hell. WinDirStat going directly into my post-install essentials folder and I'm recommending it to all my friends and people who come to me for computer help.

5. A lot of my coworkers are working on obsolete XP machines ca. 2004 that have never been wiped..

So for about the past year I've been installing WinDirStat for them. For every person so far...once they understand what it's doing, they have to pick their jaws up off the ground. An *essential* utility for any Windows machine that's been around for a while.

Also, to answer the thread's title question...right now my XP virtual machine @ 9.2gb is taking up as much space as anything.
