Request from a unix virgin
I have a mac, and i have begun playing around with terminal, and unix programming. i intend to at some point make the switch to linux(can't afford a new computer right now). is there any place someone can suggest to me that has tutorials (FREE tutorials) on the basics? thanks

3. Actually you don't need to install Linux to get access
to UNIX apps.

Take a look at this page.

http://fink.sourceforge.net/index.php

I use fink to install UNIX apps that have not been ported to Aqua. They also have FinkCommander included, a nice app to help manage your fink apps.

I like this app.

If you want to build apps, you need to have the developer tools installed. Many apps come as binaries, so they won't need to be built.
