I had a problem after setting up a new display mode.
I sent them a letter after activating my support serial #.
I shortly aftr resolved the problem myself, using methods that were more detailed and involved than their response.
Here's their response:
Unfortunately the configuration of settings above 1024x768x16 are not covered
by the terms of the free installation support, however I would recommend, at the
login screen, pressing Ctrl-Alt-F2, then logging in as root, and executing the
command:
init 3
This will switch you to runlevel 3, then execute the command:
sax2
This will allow you to reconfigure your monitor settings.
Regarding the terms of our free support, please read the enclosed
information brochure "Support from SUSE LINUX", which is also available
online at:
http://www.novell.com/products/linuxprofessional/support/index.html
In addition, we offer a charged support service, the Advanced Support,
that can handle a lot of topics which go beyond the scope of our free
support.
You can find more information on this service at (I ain't tellin')
Of course, I had written about 2 problems - nd I'd mentioned I'd already fixed the display resolution (so I didn't need it told to me; in what is clearly a sign he had no idea what was going on.)
WTF?! 1024x768x16 (16-bit color depth! Yagottabekidding!)
It's nice to get oe big DVD package and the setup is overall excellent. But for the price, they're placing too many asinine conditions for their 'free installation support'.
My next distro might just be Ubuntu. They seem cool, and far truer to life than another money-grubby korporation that I recently gathered lost a lot last fiscal quarter.
