VOIP help please
The previous tennant of my new office left behind a nice two-line analog phone (see pic below).

What I'd like to do is use this as a VOIP phone, but I'm having trouble finding an analog telephone adapter that has the features I'm looking for.
  • Linux and Windows compatibility
  • USB 2.0
  • Compatible with Skype, SIP and H.323. If it works with Vonage too, all the better.

I've found this ATA (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5234689227&category=11682&refid=store) but do not know if it will work with Skype or Linux. It's only USB 1.1 but I suppose that doesn't matter.

Any help in this area would be appreciated. I'm just beginning to learn about VOIP even though I've already set up a couple of computers with Vonage.

On second thought, USB or ethernet connectivity is OK -- I think. Will an ordinary ATA work with Skype? Damn, I feel as clueless as I did when I first started with Linux many years ago. :-)

1. Geez, the source doesn't inspire much confidence
Althou the product specs do look cool. Although I don't see a Linux driver mentioned.

You could buy a SIP-only adapter and use it with Vonage as if it wqere a SIP hardphone.

2. I agree about the source
That was the only one I had found at the time, but there are tons around. Here's another: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=KMU-30A&cpc=SCH&srm=0

What I was hoping was that there was a device that would allow me to use Skype through a regular ethernet network connection, but apparently there isn't. In other words, I wanted the best of both worlds -- Skype and a regular SIP phone. However, since this is a two line phone I'm thinking I can use something like the product above on one line and a normal ATA on the other.
