Lap top distro?

Thinking of dual booting my laptop. I run a couple of Linux servers, and was thinking of playing with the desktops again (I do this every couple of years, hoping they will stop sucking :) ). Any recommendations? Its an older Dell (Inspiron 2650), and I would need it to work with a Linksys wireless card or a cheap replacement for said.

1. Why not try one of the live CDs like Knoppix, Gnoppix, Morphix, etc.?

They have great hardware detection, you can see which one you like, and install if later if you like (or just make a persistent home directory if you don't have much HD space - little slower that way, of course).

3. I am running Fedora Core 1 on my Dell laptop...no probs...

Just downloaded the core3 iso's and will be making the jump here shortly.

on a secondary note, I have dual booted on several systems and have come to believe there is really no good reason to do that. Hardware is cheap, so get a system for Windoz and another for Linux at the end of the day you'll be a lot happier with a dedicated system for each os.

4. I have an Inspiron 8200 with RH 8.x in a tri-boot with 2 windows installs

It woks well for me. I went through the HCL's making sure it works and it has. I even got my wireless adatper to work. There are some websites dedicated to laptop installs, but it's been a couple years since I looked at it. I think you need to install your windows installs first, then the Linux.
