Most misunderstood/underestimated president ever?
From any century, building on UpsideDownFlag's theme.

I'm going to go with Grover Cleveland. Sure, we all know he served two non-consecutive terms. But what else?

In office (not out of it) he was a model of integrity and did much to reform the civil service (a HUGE issue at the time).

2. Chester Arthur - you got the name backwards
One politician, after Garfield was shot, said "Chet Arthur President of the United States, imagine that."

And those mutton chops were fucking PIMP.

4. John Tyler, who managed to serve as both president ...
of the U.S.(1841-45, after the death of William Henry Harrison) and (briefly) in the Confederate Congress before dying in 1862.
Jefferson Davis managed this feat in reverse, serving in the the U.S. Congress (as both a Representative and a Senator) before serving as the (only) President of the Confederacy.
