Tuesday, April 12 is the 60th Anniversary of FDR's death

My mom reminded me of this tonight when I spoke to her. How times have changed, no internet, no tv, not even a radio in her office so she didn't hear the news until she left work that afternoon and the newsboy on the corner was hawking his papers by yelling "FDR dead!". As this particular newsboy had been known to make up sensational headlines before this, she marched over to him to tell him this time he had gone too far - much to her horror, she discovered he wasn't making this headline up.

Today, the Minneapolis Star Tribune mentioned that tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of the announcement of the Salk Vaccine. Does anyone know if the announcement was deliberately made on what was the 10th anniversay of FDR's death?
