MS Access problem.
I have a copy of Microsoft Office 1997. I've installed it on several computers and laptops over the years. I have a Toshiba with XP that I got last year. I installed everything and they worked fine. I had a hard drive crash and reinstalled everything. Now Access won't work because I don't have a liscense for it. Anyone know why I need a liscense now? What happened to the old liscense? What is a liscense???

Any help would be appreciated. This is annoying.

1. there should be a code on the CD case
Edited on Mon Feb-07-05 03:50 AM by McKenzie
if it's a genuine copy there'll be a yellow sticker on the back, 4 digits, a hyphen and then 7 digits together with a bar code.

It is a genuine copy and not just a Norton Ghost image file dedicated to one machine that shipped with the proggie? If it's an image file it won't install onto anything except the configuration of the 'puter it was shipped with.

More info' will help us if you get stuck.

Edit: A one-off code is tied to each specific copy of M$ software; in effect, the code is your licence. You need to install that to allow the installer to kick in. No code and the installer won't initialise.

2. It's been installed at least 5 times and doesn't ask for a code at all.
Never needed a code before either. It is just wierd.
