Is this your normal DU Latest page view?

sorry for the fuzziness, but in particular i am curious about the white/grey/black bars on the left column of forums.

sometime today my browser started this, and i can't get rid of it. I'm using an older version of netscape specifically b/c it did NOT do this, but later versions and Firefox and Mozilla and IE all had those blasted bars...

anyway, just trying to see if that's what anyone/everyone else sees. Normally i have just blue text for the forums, the latest threads, and the LBN column all on a white background.

i asked in ATA since Bugs is being phased out, but don't expect an answer anytime soon.

tia,

2. i think they are all 'private' forums
in that you have to be a member of DU to contribute in them.

I wonder why the black/grey/white bars all of a sudden now show up, and they hadn't all along before? I had seen them in Firefox, etc, and stuck with my old browser since they didn't show there...

thanks

3. Private forums can only be seen by those admitted to them
There is one for moderators while they are moderating so they can communicate with each other. I don't know about any others.

6. protected forums
The software they use here (which I have used on another site) has the following kinds of forums:

public - anyone can view and post.

protected - anyone can view by only registered users can post.

restricted - posting restricted to members of certain "groups", such as moderators or any other group created by the admins.

private - can only be seen or posted in by certain members as selected by the admins.

4. Yes and it's looked like that all along
at least in IE and Firefox. I don't use Netscape.

7. Yes, they are there ...

This is merely a formatting style issue, and what you are seeing is a common way of a deliniating different sections of a web page.

The older version of Netscape doesn't show them because it cannot interpret the HTML that creates these things.

8. If you just want blue text on a white background
disable style sheets in your Preferences menu.
