My work puter is doing the strangest thing. I accidentally left the browser open last night, and when I came in this morning the display is going on and off about once a second with a clap noise I've never heard before. I'm typing on it so it's just the display that's fucked up because it keeps going on and off with this damn clapping noise.
Anyone hear of this before or know how to fix?

2. Does Princeton still make monitors? |
|
That must have been a pretty old monitor. (I had a Princeton Graphics monitor for my Commodore Amiga 2000, to give you an idea of how far back that was.) It sounds like something had shorted out, and it was arcing. Good thing you came in when you did -- that's the sort of thing that could wind up starting a fire!

3. It is a snapping noise? |
|
It is probably a capacitor or another component in CRT high voltage supply failing. They usually arc with a crack or a snapping noise. It is time to invest in flat screen.
