Any suggestions for good ones? External? Internal?
Totally clueless about firewalls.
Thanks in advance

2. AVG ...

AVG is not a firewall. It's an anti-virus program.

I agree that Kerio is a good product.

4. Absolutely . . . I've used the free version of Zone Alarm for years.
I use the Opera browser along with the AVG Antivirus and Zone Alarm.

All three "play" well together and I have had no problems since incorporating all of these programs.

Prior to this, I was using McAfee. A worm/trojan infected my computer between updates. That was a nightmare which necessitated reinstalling the OS.
