help with hosts file modifications
i'm attempting to block access to certain sites at work and i'm having good luck except for the mail2web site.. it is resisting efforts to direct it to 127.0.0.1 is there something i'm missing, i've tried many syntax options and it always slips by.

1. Perhaps if you provide a few more details.
Your OS, the full URL, your host lookup settings, etc.

2. ..
xp pro OS

the website is http://mail2web.com

i've tried it without www, with www, with a / at the end etc.. any other site i've put in the list is blocked accordingly. i even tried the numeric IP instead of the URL, it still comes through.

3. Now tell me what form "not being blocked" takes.

You type in the URL or what?

The correct form in the hosts file would be:

127.0.0.1 MAIL2WEB.COM

Notes on the format:

* You must maintain the proper format or else the entry will be invalid.
* Entries are invalid if they contain "http:" or an ending "\" slash.
* IP addresses are invalid as HOSTS file entries.
* In the event you need to rename the file, use the below batch file.
* Remember that the HOSTS file should be in capital letters.
* If you wish to disable an entry place a "#" in front of the line.

On XP it goes in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
