AOL email: To Dump Or Not To Dump?
Can folks with your AOL email addy find you if you dump AOL?

My daughter loves her AOL email addy, but she never uses AOL for anything else these days. ($29.99 per month for an email account seems lame!)

Can she dump AOL but either keep the AOL email account or redirect people (who now email her at the AOL address) to another email account?

1. Just set up
a Free email account and mail all the people on your address book telling them the new address. Then get as far away from AOL as possible.

2. Exactly . . . get far, far away from AOL.
Altogether, I have about six email addresses.

My ISP ($9.95/month) allows me to have 100 different email addresses (why I would need that many, I do not know, but I do have two).

I also have three Yahoo email addresses and one www.myway.com email address.

I NEVER use my ISP email addresses when I sign up for a newsletter or make an online purchase. One of the Yahoo addresses is the one I use for that. If it starts getting too much SPAM, I can just stop using that one and get another "throw away" email address.

To protect her from SPAM, make sure she keeps her new email address VERY private. Get a web-based address for her for her non-personal communication.
