I can't highlight and copy text. Why not? |
|
My new computer has Vista and I find that I can't highlight and copy text.
I have not loaded the MS office suite yet, so I don't know if I can highlight in a word processor. The problem I have is with online text. I can't even get a cursor to appear in online text.
Can anyone tell me how I might fix this problem.
Thanks.

1. Try resetting IE to defaults |
|
Click Tools > Internet Options, click the Advanced tab and click the reset Internet Explorer settings button.

2. Thanks... I'll give it a try. |
|
I'm at work right now, so I'll have to do it later this evening.
Thanks again!

3. Something else to check... |
|
Click Tools > Internet Options > Security Tab Click on the Custom Level button, scroll down to the Miscellaneous section and verify that "Drag and Drop or Copy and Paste files" is enabled.

Click Tools > Internet Options > Security Tab Click on the Custom Level button, scroll down to the Scripting section and verify that "Allow Programmatic clipboard access" is enabled.
If that doesn't work try resetting the Internet zone on the security tab to the default level. Restart IE and try it.
If still not working, try sliding the security level for the Internet zone all the way down to medium. Restart IE and test.
Have you tried a different browser?

6. After trying all of those... |
|
I installed Firefox.
Surprise! I can now copy and paste text.
Of course, now I have to learn to use Firefox... including installing the necessary plugins.
Still, I think I can get used to it.
Thanks for all your help. It does appear that the problem is an IE issue.
