DSL modem and wifi router question |
|
I had to get a new DSL modem this week due to some storm damage (apparently fried by power surge). I just tried swapping around the ethernet cables to fire up the wifi router and I lose internet connectivity (going back to direct connecting the modem to the desktop computer restores the connetion). My worry is that the router also was damaged so I can't just assume I need to reinstall it. Do you typically need to reinstall a wifi router if you replace the modem?

Do you need to change the mac address of the new modem within the router? When I had ATT DSL, I had to input the mac.
