After a couple of successful conversions/burns (converting mp4/avi files to DVD format, burn to DVD to play on regular DVD player), I ran into a problem.
Each conversion takes over 3 hours, so if I can salvage this project instead of a complete redo, that'd be great. Plus it'd be good just to understand how these things work, if possible.
Anyway, there are 6 files, each 10 minutes long. The first 4 converted fine and I still have all the intermediate files. BUt the program choked on the 5th file and then quit, leaving all the files but not producing the DVD.
I discovered the problem with the 5th file and have fixed it, so here's now my question:
Can I separately convert the remaining 2 files and then somehow append them all together to create the DVD? What would I need to manually change?
Edit: More information
From the aborted attempt, I have the .m2v and .ac3 files for the first 4 segments.
I did a second session with just the 2 remaining segments, and see I have not only the .m2v and .ac3 files, but in addition the .mpeg file (presumably the merge of the video/audio)
So now I have 2 questions:
How do I "merge" the m2v and ac3 files, and if that works, how do I then create a DVD using all 6 files?
Thanks to anyone who can help me understand this!
Another edit: with yet more info
Looks like what I need for problem #1 is a "muxer" (multiplexer). A quick search landed this one:
http://www.videohelp.com/download/ImagoMPEG-Muxer.zip(haven't tried it yet though)
What it does is combine the m2v and ac3 files together into the VOB format
... I may solve this before anyone shows up here, in which case I'll just post what I find. But if you know anything about this, please chime in!
