Kingston is planning to release a 40GB 'boot' drive for UNDER $100 in time for Xmas. Within a couple of years, standard magnetic SATA/PATA platter hard drives will have gone the way of tube Tee Vees, and quiet, effficient small, thermally effective SSD's will have become mainstream.

4. I have an SSD nothing top of the line but it is still blazing fast.

I have my system go into suspend after 30 minutes now (trying to be green). It comes out of suspend in about 1-2 seconds (faster than my monitor can come on).

Boot time is about 20 seconds but over half of that is the bios posting (control not handed over to windows yet). New BIOS are hitting the market with 1-2 second post time so could have a boot time of <12 seconds with new fast post bios.

When I had it they hadn't caught on yet and it was only $350. Prices have jumped as people realized how powerful they are. Hopefully it settles back down.

Got two drives
1) SSD for boot, OS, applications
2) 1TB WD Green for data, user files, documents etc.

Windows 7 makes it easy to remap documents, pictures, downloads, etc folders to a seperate location.

On the second drive (D) I have D:\user\ to remap all data files.
