Oh my, the tech guy made my problems worse.
Edited on Sat Jan-30-10 12:24 AM by pengillian101
He took my tower in to clean it all up. I was having an Intel warning that my processor was heating up. That warning has been bugging me for more than a year, I would close it and it would just reappear. I'd just scroll it off the screen.

I thought it might have been a virus, and I called a new guy to help. He took it in and vacuumed and all the stuff to clean it both hardware and software wise.

Crap-aroonie!

Just after he left, I got a Google pop-up. I never had a Google pop-up before. One of my programs stopped pop-ups, but I don't recall what that was...Windows, I think(?).

After that, holy crap - I was bombarded with shit. I would've called him right away, but it's after hours on a Friday night.

I have been running all of my anti-virus software all afternoon and I'm at a loss what to do next.

Oh ya, I still have the same error message.

Intel warning that my processor was heating up.

*******What do you think my next step should be?

1. Just for the record...
He was verified as a good tech - so it is not him!

Just some weird Google crap or something.

4. I hate pop ups or ads of any kind, so I use an add on to control it.
But I have to stay on top of it, I believe because they always come up with new ways to get the pop ups and ads in.
But it is an additional add on to some good browsers, and has to be revised from time to time to include some new stuff.

5. Have you made sure the CPU heat warning is legit?
One thing you can do to see if it's legit or not is to download a program called Rivatuner. Among other functions, this will report the temperature of your CPU, graphics card, etc.

READ THE MANUAL, though, because I think Rivatuner can also be used to control fans, overclock, and other things.♦

6. No, it's not legit.
The tech guy cleaned and cooled down the processor and the Intel warning is just a nasty virus. Intel shows that it's fine.

I THINK I got rid of it. I made sure all of my virus cleaners were up to date and did deep scans. Seems my Spybot was outdated. So far, so good today!

Man, that one pop-up was a nasty one that carried tons of viruses.

Learned my lesson to keep anti-virus programs up-to-date :-)

That warning message just popped up again. Well, the tech guy cooled the processor down, so it's just a virus, but dang, it's irritating. If I clik to close it, it just comes back, so I have to ddddddrag it off the creen

And now this virus is dinking aroooundwith keyssssstrkes.

See what I meannn?

8. Just installed Malware bytes and it found these.

Gads, the folks that write all this buggy shit to hamper everything just drive me nuts. Ok, fine they think they are so smart and perhaps they are. But why not use those skills for good instead of irritating everybody?

Oh wait a minute - some of those folks also make the remedies, don't they --- and sell the remedy product. What a frickin racket.
