Worthless Gateway driver support site.
They want you to enter the serial number. Fine, unless it's been partially rubbed off like on every Gateway laptop I've seen. Model number on tag does not match model numbers listed. M-Series lists a whole bunch of models-model number on bottom of laptop says model W650i-which doesn't even resemble any of the models listed.

So far any of the Marvell wireless drivers I've tracked down for Windows 7 64 bit(since he wanted upgrade from Vista) haven't worked. All this because someone managed to total their hard drive.

2. check the pre-installed user guide on your hard drive
Failing that, you can try their serial number lookup service:

3. Original drive crashed
Tried that POS too. Gives me model number and serial number unknown. Correctly identifies processor and everything else.

As much as I hate Dells, they at least have a match between the model number on the computer and the number on their website.

6. I've run into the same problem with them
but if you go to online help they'll hijack your computer and download all the appropriate drivers for you.

Yes, it feels icky but it gets the box up and running again.

Consider cloning the drive so it won't happen again.

8. Update
BlueJazz's rec on Sisoft got me the serial number. Seems I have a problem-the wireless adapter is apparently not functioning correctly. tried the usual methods-reseating, etc. and nothing worked.
Have a temp fix by using an old Netgear USB adapter until the Mini PCI-E card gets here.
