Has my computer been hijacked, and if so, what can I do?
2-year-old privately built no-name desk top.
running Windows XP.
Have various Windows protections as well as McAfee.

This morning I checked my yahoo spam folder and found a bunch of MAILER-DAEMON could not deliver messages. then checked "sent mail" folder and found several emails had gone out to all addresses in my address book, which I had obviously not sent.

Can anyone tell me what's going on and how to repair it?

1. Methinks Yahoo!'s e-mail server(s) have been compromised.
There's a slight chance that you may have been hacked. I think it's a Yahoo e-mail server problem, judging by a few of the search returns I've lightly perused so far. I would still run a few virus scans if I were you.

Google result (Firefox) for "yahoo mail servers attacked many accounts compromised" returns 56,000+ hits: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=Ypl&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&q=yahoo+mail+servers+attacked++many+accounts+compromised&btnG=Search&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

Check out this link, read the comments. LOTS of angry Yahoo! e-mail clients.

For what it's worth, I use Yahoo! for most of my personal e-mail, no business or banking etc, and I haven't had this problem.

Yet. (crosses fingers).

5. I had the same thing happen with one of three AOL accounts
ONly, the one, at least so far. I alternate virus and malware scans daily using AVG, PCTOOLS spyware doctor and malwarebytes. All continue to come up clean. So, what is the chance that both yahoo and aol mail (and not all of aol mail) are having these issues?
