My computer loads to desktop then keeps rebooting?
Additionally, My Computer reports that I have afloppy A: drive and three CD/Dvd drives.
Funny thing is I have NEVER had a floppy drive installed and I only have two dvd drives!
I am now running because I did a msconfig and stopped all startup programs and all non-MS activities.
But I am puzzled as to which way to turn with the drives reporting.

Any help is appreciated.

1. Check the BIOS
Start with a reset back to defaults.

2. My son recommended that right off
And it did seem to hold a little bit longer, but when I reboot with everything enabled it starts to reboot cycking again.
Is there a way to test what's going wrong?
I'm operating with msconfig set to disable the strtup progs and services that aren't Microsoft.
I'm running WinXP SP3.

3. XP defaults to rebooting
when it encounters a fatal error, for some goofy reason. Try disabling it:

1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

2. Click the Advanced tab.

3. Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings to open the Startup and Recovery dialog box.

4. Clear the Automatically restart check box, and click OK the necessary number of times.

5. Restart your computer for the settings to take effect.

6. There are errors, posted as warnings
under the category of "disk"
Now, I'm afraid that my "F:" drive may be toast, but why are the extra drives showing up?
Any ideas?

Thank you :)

7. In Computer Management, click on Disk Management
Wait till it comes up and see what it tell you. It should only show you what you really have.
If per chance it shows too many drives, then It has to be a corrupted registry.
