Is there a button I can click to get my keyboard scroller from
going to the bottom of the page when I hit down and sometimes going straight to the top when I hit up?

I have to lock my keys all the time because apparently I hit other keys and highlight things and send the off into the cosmos. My keyboard is also not in the greatest shape, I have 4 missing keys. I don't know if that is significant but just in case.

It would make it much more easier if I could use the up and down buttons on the keyboard instead of hanging around the bottom of the scroll and using the left click button to go down the page.

I hope I explained this right. Thanks.

Maraya

1. Maraya, I've tried to replicate this
with control panel and browser settings and just can't make my machine jump a page by hitting the down arrow once.

Does this only happen in your browser, and which browser?
If not, does the scrolling act the same way say, in a long Word document, spreadsheet or pdf?

My first thought is muck in your keyboard. The bottom keys are suceptible to spillage and debris getting lodged between and under them. This can cause keys to stick. It sounds like you are due a new keyboard anyhow :)

Borrow or buy another keyboard and try it out.

2. I haven't been able to duplicate it either
The keys I use most:

1. Down and Up arrows to just scroll a little bit

2. PgUp and PgDn to scroll up/down a screen-full at a time (Spacebar does the same as PgDn)

3. Home and End to go directly to the top or bottom of the page

Don't me started on all the other shortcuts I have memorized. :)

3. Probably time for a new keyboard
If you have a spare $10, it'd be worth it.

In the meantime, toggle your NumLock key off. Then you can use 8 and 2 for up/down, 9 and 3 for page-up/down, 7 and 1 for home/end.

4. Thanks all. I think I'm going to go with the new keyboard. Mine is
stuffed with cat and dogs hair and dust.
