question regarding possible tracking

When I navigate from my Gmail site to any other site my screen flashes a solid color for a second or two. Sometimes when I go from Gmail to DU the font on DU come up red until I navigate to a comment. This only happens when going from Gmail to any where else, not just DU.
Is Google tracking my activity?

3. It is the annoying flat colored screen that concerns me

Oddly only happens when I navigate away from my gmail site. Somewhere in the past I recall reading that this was caused by some spyware but I have run every anti spyware tool a I have and still it keeps happening.
