upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7. QUESTION
i have windows xp professional 64-bit and i am wanting to upgrade to windows 7 ultimate 64-bit.

is it a compatible upgrade or not?
i'm almost positive i'll have to do a clean install, but i don't want to purchase it if it won't work.
i'm getting a sweet discount through my college but there is a no return policy.

trying not to screw this up and lose money.

any help is greatly appreciated!!

2. As long as you have the hardware requirements, no problem.
To upgrade from XP you do have to do a clean install. So far all the applications I've tried on it worked, including my fractals program that was written for Win98. The only weird situation I had was that XP X64 didn't like WordPerfect 11 and 7 didn't like WordPerfect 12.

My little music player, TrayPlay-which is a 37K .exe and sits in the system tray has now worked on Win98, 2000, XP, XP X64, and on 7 Home Premium and Pro-both 32 and 64 bit versions.

3. One important thing. If your computer can run a 64 bit system, I see...
...absolutely no problems.
I've seen 7 work on computers that are 7 years old so I seriously doubt you'll have any problem.
