I need some help evaluating this

A friend of mine has put together this web site. She calls it a platform, and she seems to be quite pleased with it. I,m going to be asked to comment, but I'm clueless when it comes to evaluating stuff like this. I'm not even clear on what she's trying to do. If you have a minute or two I would value your opinions. 1. Don't like it.

I'm no expert, by a long shot.
I just hate 'reverse' websites.
White letters on a black background.
They're very difficult to read.
IMHO, the FIRST thing you want a website to be is READABLE.

2. A Plugin video ad service

Cool idea. They make it and they host it on their servers. For a business owner who doesn't have the skills to create and serve their own video ad, it's a helpful service.

4. It could be a real winner

Simple concept, seems straightforward enough. I too dislike white on black and will generally not persist with a site unless the content is exceptional.

IMO some of the text is a bit 'down home' in a mildy Sarah Palin fashion:

* You do not want to think about the difference between views, impressions and clicks, except for how it impacts your bottom line and you don't want to be limited in how you use your video. Our answer to that is OK.

*We invite you to explore this site some more.

*We can probably help you find someone who can give you more of what you are looking for.

These are just a few examples. Maybe get someone to go over the text and tighten it up, check grammar, look for tautologies etc.


Some of the pix are stock images which is clichéd. Best to use her own photography. Smiling faces never go astray.

Other than that, I wish her the best and think the idea is a good one.

6. I had the same reaction

to some of the writing. I mean to talk to her about it, but she did a lot of it herself and I don't want to put her on the defensive. Your post will provide an opening.
