Back up error - error code 0x81000001
Edited on Sat Apr-23-11 08:43 AM by Tripper11
So I suddenly started reciebing this error a couple of weeks ago. I had Windows back up doing a weekly session when one morning this error popped up.
I've googled and tired to sort it out, but am not overly computer savvy and it seems the fix is quite daunting , at least for me.
Can I just download a new backup utility, like Fbackup and just start from scratch?
Also, I have a ton of past back up files from when the automatic back up was working.
If I use a new program to create a new back up, can I delete all the old ones?

Thanks.

1. I'd give FBackup a shot.
I googled that error code and it says that the MS backup utility gives this error when it tries to backup a file bigger than 162GB. http://www.pagestart.com/win7br0x8100000101.html

That's a huge file....not sure if it is interpreting the entire disk as a file? Anyways, if you know your backup files are not approaching 162GB, I'd certainly recommend using FBackup4...it's pretty easy to set up and serves my needs to duplicate certain folders that I need to have backed up on an ongoing basis.
