1. I would update to FF4 for security reasons, if for no other reason
http://blog.mozilla.com/blog/2011/03/22/mozilla-launches-firefox-4-and-delivers-a-fast-sleek-and-customizable-browsing-experience-to-more-than-400-million-users-worldwide-2/

Private and Secure

Do Not Track: Firefox is leading the Web towards a universal standard Do Not Track feature that allows users to opt-out of tracking used for behavioral advertising.

Firefox puts privacy first, fixing flaws in some Web standards to prevent others from accessing your browser history.

HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS): automatically establishes secure connections to stop “man in the middle” attacks and keep sensitive data safe from interception during the log-in process.

Content Security Policy (CSP): prevent cross-scripting attacks by allowing sites to explicitly tell the browser which content is legitimate.

2. I rolled back to version 3.6.16
Mostly because the plugins I love aren't available in 4. If you want to stop the nag, go to Tools > Options > Advanced > Update and untick the box for Firefox.

4. happy with 3.6.8
I turn off updating stuff wherever I see it.

I do only accept cookies from specific sites and have the Firefox BetterPrivacy extension installed, which deletes Adobe Flash cookies. I only log into google temporarily to get access to blogger.
