I am hoping that this was a misunderstanding with the netgear customer service rep I just talked to. I had trouble signing on into the Admin software so I called customer support. They were courteous enough to help even though I was out of the warranty period. But what I heard confused me. I have the netgear admin software installed on a destop which runs XP, but I work off a laptop that runs Vista. She said that my laptop's Vista could only handle WEP. Her answered surprised me.
Finally, after several confusing rounds, I asked her if the desktop, which had the admin software programmed with the preferred WPA protection became an umbrella of protection for the laptop when I tapped into the wireless network. She didn't answer my question directly. So I'm running the question past the gurus of computer help and support group.
Does my Vista laptop enjoy the WPA protection when it's tapped into my wireless network which has WPA protection?
