Need help on how to UNINSTALL Obit Uninstaller 2 !!!

Simply wanted to uninstall a Yahoo toolbar which popped up unwanted

and Obit Uninstaller 2 after almost an hour hadn't done it --

I don't think I need this thing --

I got rid of the Yahoo toolbar by other means in about 2 minutes --

This thing is also taking up a lot of space --

Now -- if I go to START and ALL PROGRAMS I can't find something that says

"Obit Uninstaller 2" --

Anyone know where it is???

1. Check C:\Program Files

For Obit Uninstaller. (That's probably iObit). The folder name may not be the same as the software you're looking for eg. EditPad by default goes into a folder called JG Soft. You may need to check out all program folders where you're not sure of what they contain.

A gentle reminder that things like Yahoo toolbar don't just materialise on your hard drive; someone, somewhere (and I'm not accusing you :) ) didn't read the dialogue boxes and allowed it to be installed.

but they usually strike at my weakest moments!!

Then on C Drive, then look for Program Files folder.

EB Misfit is right about iobit software. I used their defragmenter years ago and gave up on it. You could always have a look at Revo Uninstaller, it does a good job. http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html

6. Hard to believe ....

but I'm only finding a dead end --

I hit "START" and then "ALL PROGRAMS" -- and then "MY COMPUTER" --


On the left there is --

"System Tasks" - "Other Places" -- and "Details" --


On the right there is --

"Files Stored on ths Computer"

"Hard Disc Drives" -- this one notes: "Local Disc C" but there's nothing to click

on --

"Devices With Removable Storage" --


Keep in mind, my wandering around the computer can also bring about unintended

consequences!! YIKES!


None of the trails I follow bring me to anything that looks like this program.

And, if I pull up iobit program/uninstaller itself, it does not include a way to remove it!

8. Got into C files, but only saw IObit for Advanced System Care 3 and 4 ....

Found the C file indirectly --

Think I can find it again, but did check the files and so far no

IObit uninstaller!

Can you read what the other poster is saying and let me know what you think?

I tend to build up a huge number of LINKS in my "favorites" --

Does that slow down the computer? duh?

Twice a year or so I clear them out but they build up again!

What Misfit said is true. I don't trust the iObit software very much and you'll find there are better alternatives.

First, let's try getting rid of iObit the standard Windows way;

1. From Start menu, open the Control Panel
2. Double click on Programs and Features (may take a few seconds for icons to come up)
3. Find the iObit software (there may be more than one program)
4. One by one, double click on iobit software and let Windows uninstall them.

Try this first, see how you go and report back. If it doesn't work, there are other ways to eliminate it.

12. I know I'm impossible -- !!! And, when I get to Control Panel ....

there's no "Programs and Features" to double click on!!

All I get is a Control Panel notation -- with optiosn for Windows update and

Help & Support -- boy, you really have to be desperate to try their help & support!!

I'll keep trying on this -- have to run out for a bit --




However, I did find another way to get to an area where Advanced System Care 4 was shown

and I had the option to let Windows delete -- which I did.

The question of Advanced System Care 3 seems to be moot because I didn't see a notation

for that one EXCEPT in my unused icon folder on desktop. And, I sent the icon to the

recycle bin along with icon for ASC 4.


Meanwhile, I found that I have a Windows Search function -- and put in IObitUninstaller

and 1Obit uninstaller and it checks everything and can't find it!!

Is that I -- as in eye Obit -- guess all this matters as to whether it's a "1" - one or

a Zero or simply a capital "O" ...

I can go back and search it again -- but so far nothing found.


I'm thinking someone should install IObit on their computer and trace it for me!!???

The only things that came up under "uninstall programs" which I also tried were programs

which come with their own uninstall feature -- like my Canon printer.

14. If you're running XP it's listed as "Add or Remove Programs"

In Win 7 it's "Programs and Features"

4. I believe you meant "IObit"...

IObit is trash software from known code-stealers/Guerrilla marketers that borders on Spyware/Malware IMHO--some swear by their products but to me it's all eye-candy/redundant progs already integrated into WinDOZE--YMMV.

7. PLOT THICKENS .... Yes... in my "Unused Desktop" folder I found

two icons --

one leads to

Advanced System Care 3

the other to IObit
Advanced System Care 4


I do use Advanced System Care -- but don't know why because I think I have some

Microsoft program which does this same cleaning?

I've long had the feeling that ASC is really using cleaning time to check out

my computer info -- but that may just be me???

...but I can't confirm/deny/prove it. I don't like IObit software, nor it's marketing practices. Here's one reason why:

Advanced System Care (Free version)can be a useful product for an average home user, DO NOT use the registry cleaner, (they're ALL SNAKE OIL, IMO) be careful to uncheck any toolbars and "other software" during installation and stay away from the paid version. I much prefer CCleaner. (Free). Microsoft does have progs/apps already integrated that do the same things as utilities such as ASC & CCleaner, but the "one-click" approach is easier & more preferred for most users--myself included.

The "eye-candy/redundant progs" comment was directed toward IObit, not M$...M$'s progs are fine. I use a third party defragmenter on my XP systems but use the native defrag on Windows 7.

YMMV= Your mileage may vary. If you're happy with IObit's stuff, so be it.

As for the M$ .Net Framework 3.5--some programs require that it be installed in order to run that specific program. The BitRemover I linked to is one such program. Another that comes immediately to mind that requires Framework 3.5 is TurboTax. What it (3.5) actually DOES is something thast needs to be explained by someone a LOT smarter than me **cough cough Canetoad cough cough**

Microsoft Security Essentials is a fine product, and it's free. I prefer Avast Free...it's more configurable and is light on resources as is M$$E. M$'s Windows Defender? Not so much, IMO, but again YMMV.

...the developer was NOT IObit, "they" were acquired...can't recall who it was. No trace on the teh Google as to who the former "owner" was.

That's what made me wonder about them, because I could run it 10X in a row and

they'd still be saing I had problems even after they fixed them?

20. Previous version was called Advanced Windows Care.

It works. they screwed it up when it became Systems care. I still use the older version. Have had no problems with it on XP, XP X64, Vista and 7.

Doesn't find new problems if you run a second time after the first. At least it hasn't when I tried it.

And the defragger at same time. At that time every second software startup was peddling a one-stop fixup. System Care seemed to be adequate but really only an interface to tools you already have on your computer. I think it broke after the first 'update'.

Because the replies on this thread have become a bit convoluted and out-of-order, can you post below, as a reply to the original post, what the status of your original question was?

My reading is that you are trying to get rid of IObit uninstaller (yep, that's letter 'i', letter 'o' plus 'bit'). EB Misfit just sent me some info that could be very helpful to you and it would help to know how we stand at the moment.

Also, sorry about leading you astray trying to find Programs & features - for some reason I thought you were using Win 7.

it somehow? I did get rid of IObit's Advanced System care4.


IF it does turn up again, I'll use the IObit remover that one of the other
