need help with something simple that is driving me nuts
My address bar does not display unless I do VIEW - FULLSCREEN and then the toolbar with the START button/time (at the bottom of the screen) disappears. It's like I cannot have both toolbars on my screen at the same time which is what I prefer. I've got all the toolbars checked - anyone know what is going on? I'm sure it is something simple but I have been unable to figure it out. :(

1. check your "start button" properties
if you're running Windows XP, try right clicking on the "start button" and then choose "properties" ... at the top of the window that pops up, choose the "taskbar" tab ...

make sure the following box is checked: "keep the taskbar on top of other windows"

not sure if that's the problem you're having but it's worth checking ...

2. Do you have the ability to post an image?
If so, it would help immensely to see what is going on. With Internet Explorer in NON-fullscreen mode (where you can't see your address bar), press and hold the ALT key while you tap PrintScrn (or PrtScrn). Then open up MS Paint (or use a different imaging program if you have one) and paste the clipboard contents to create an image file. Host the image file, then put a link here so we can see what your IE screen looks like!

5. Start --> Programs --> Accessories --> no Paint?
Try clicking Start --> Run, and type in "mspaint" then click OK.

7. In the meantime, flying blind,
here are some things to look at:

First, make sure the toolbars are unlocked. (View... Toolbars... "Lock the Toolbars" should NOT have a checkmark next to it.)

Next, Look around the edges of the toolbars you DO see. Do you also see an extra vertical line on any of them? Click on that line and hold while you drag your mouse near the center of the bar. The address bar may have accidentally slid off the viewable area, and you can slide it back into view.

10. LOL......OK you have a reprieve
WOW I never noticed those extra lines - I had a couple going.....you know how people "tailor" their screens to their satisfaction - it's quite irritating when something is out of whack, especially when you KNOW it's GOT to be something SIMPLE! :o
