My county is starting a program to provide wireless access for the entire county.
Where is a good source for info about wireless internet access?
I am concerned about security over the wireless network.
Any info you can share about wireless would be appreciated.

2. One word: "Firewall"

Use a good one. (If you use a wireless router, it will have a hardware firewall built in. It's up to you to activate and configure it.)

Depending on your operating system, you can secure your computer to a great extent by simply not sharing folders or files to the network. (In Win98, ME, Win2K and XP, sharing is disabled by default. You have to explicitly activate it.) You can also give your computer membership in a Workgroup with a unique name (something other than "workgroup" or "mshome").

Also be certain to use a good antivirus scanner.
