1. Have you looked in the folders in Explorer to see if they are there?
Sorry that happened . . . and thanks for reminding me. I just backed up my Profile stuff, including Bookmarks and Notes and Wand data for my Opera browser.

2. I did a search
Edited on Mon Aug-29-05 01:28 AM by miss_kitty
for bookmarks and checked the file size on each thing that came up. and checked the date created too. All of them were in "C:\Documents and Settings\<Windows login/user name>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox" etc etc. or in my documents or in recent documents. I also did a couple system restores, but Firefox seems to be immune for that; files get renamed during the function for protection. My IE has old old favourites. I did a chkdsk too. They're just fucking gone

On edit: if you have any other ideas, I'm all ears.

4. Get the Bookmark Backup extension
http://www.pikey.me.uk/mozilla/

Great extension! Allows you to backup other things too, like passwords, history, and so on. Does it automatically whenever you close Firefox too!

6. Oh. man, that hurts. Firefox bit me in the ass, too
I lost over a year's bookmarks, and I bookmark practically anything of interest, especially a lot of political stuff for reference. I think I'll back up my bookmarks right now.

7. I always backup my bookmarks
Edited on Tue Sep-20-05 11:21 AM by Wilber_Stool
on a floppy. Passwords too. Once a week or more. Just remember to delete the previous backup before the current. That way any marks you delete will will not ge left in the previous backup.

8. I'm going to do that too
but if you keep the name the same, the thing tells you you already have a file with that name and offers to overwrite it.
