Does anyone know how to repair damaged JPEG files on my HD?

Does anyone know how to repair damaged JPEG files on my HD?
I have these photos from New Orleans that I took a year ago, but now I can't open them. On the JPEG icon, when I right click on properties, it tells me that the image was modified in June.

So obviously I did something to screw it up, but I have no idea what. Is there anyway I can go into my hard drive's history to see what I did on that date?

1. Try opening it
with a different program.

2. I tried opening the images in Paint Shop 7, but I was informed that ...
"This is not a valid jpeg-jfif file"

3. are you using xp?
Does anything show up in xp's picture preview?

I don't know how you'd go about checking how you changed a particular file in June.
