5. More about Obsidian
I'll just find a review I agree with (I'm lazy!) :-)

Obsidian is one of the all-time great adventure games, a geekier, more machine-like version of Riven: The Sequel to Myst. Here you are entering a nano-robot creation and solve cool, hard-core puzzles. The environment is harsh and beautiful: bureaucratic mazes, spider-like machines, churches of logic. In a way, this seems like the ultimate hard-core gamer adventure game. Puzzles are logical, but sometimes the deductions are way beyond me (the game comes with a cheat book, which I used a good deal, although my puzzle-writing friend solved the whole thing on his own). This game has a sci-fi-geek-genius feeling to it, with a surreal sense of humor. Probably the most imaginative and original game I've seen.

The puzzles are great because the logic used was always "twisted". I miss that game. Wish they'd do an sequel...

8. No Civilization?
Edited on Sun Sep-11-05 07:14 PM by NewHampshireDem
And, BTW, the list is for the past 10 years, not of all time ... thus a lot of other missing games. :)

9. No Kings Quest games?
or Defender of the Crown? Geez. It seems more like games within the last 10 years rather than of all time. What about the OG Legend of Zelda? Super Mario? This list was written by a 17 year old.

11. The last 10 years is exactly what it is
The article says so. This thread just happens to be mistitled.

13. Bah!

I love how "of all time" goes back to 1996.

Many of those games are just knock-offs of games that came earlier -- and are still played by those who know of them -- only with better graphics ... or sometimes not.

Halo in particular is nothing but Quake/Doom in a different wrapper.

14. i guess i need to apologize
i did make a pretty big mistake in titling this thread...these are not the best games of all time but the best of the last few years...having said that...i must agree that they for the most part are just later versions of earlier games...

say does anyone but me remember "alien invasion"? boy i really loved that game....
