Thinking of starting personal web page...need advice

I've been considering this for some time now and I would love to hear pros and cons.

After doing some searching I found plenty of places which offer free web hosting. I know some HTML...enough that I think I could put something together. I'm not sure which of those or if any of them offer decent service since it's free.

Anyone have advice for someone who is considering this?

1. Most ISPs give you server space for your personal web site

That is where my personal website resides. I also created a Blog about Geocaching over at Blogger.com. You could start out with a non-public blog at a site like that to start with.

The first thing to remember when you create your web site is to NOT put your email address on it, like in a "Contact" link.

When I set up my website about seven years ago, I made that mistake and got so much SPAM I ultimately had to change email addresses.
