Any way to copy MS Office 97 from one laptop to another?
I have MS Office 97 on my ancient Compaq Persario. I tried copying all the Office files onto my usb drive and put them into my other laptop but it didn't work. Do I have to have the CD? Cause I was given this laptop so I don't have the CD; seems like you should be able to copy such an old edition from one machine to another? Any suggestions? Thank you.

1. Nope.
No way to do it that I know of. But since it's 8 years old, maybe it's time to upgrade. Check out newegg.com--they sell OEM versions of Office for cheap.

3. As stated earlier - nope.
Without the CD, you can't even get the upgrade (cheaper) version of M$O. You'll need to buy a new copy.

Is the new PC running XP? Older versions of Windoze will be dropping off the support radar; older versions of M$O will stop working on newer operating systems. If possible, bite the bullet & get the latest versions of all software. You'll avoid a lot of pain later.

4. Download OpenOffice
It does everything MS Office does and it's free.
