What would happen if I used PC2700 in one slot and PC3200 in another? Bad things? And what does the PC2700/3200/etc. refer to, exactly?

would run at the slower speed. PC 2700, and PC 3200 are the frontside bus speed x 8 (PC 2700=333 Mhz FSB, PC3200=400Mhz FSB)

Unless you try to run the FSB over 333(166)MHz, you'll be fine. The difference is that the 3200 stick is rated to run at a higher FSB speed of 400(200)MHz.

have trouble running in dual-channel mode with mis-matched DIMMs. If you are not using an NF2 board, like another poster said, the system will run all DIMMs at the speed of the slowest one.
