How do you create a link as a single word?

Now that DUers are writing more in journals, it would be nice to be able to post links in the text without the lengthly 'http' address. I'm not sure how to go about this.

1. Next time you post

look at the 'Message options' line directly above where you enter the Subject title. Click on 'HTML lookup table.' You want the 'HREF link with text display.' Follow the instructions.

2. Like this ...

Let's say I wanted to link to this thread in some other
message.  I post a comment such as, "You need to read
this thread," and I want the word "this" to be
the link to the message.  Instead of just writing that
sentence, I would write:

You need to read
[link:www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=242&topic_id=7649&mesg_id=7649|this]
thread.

can be found right here ...

note that you can make the text of the link one word or lots of words ...

also, when you build the link tag in this manner, note that you have to omit the http:// ...

so, as an example, to link to your journal, you could create a link to IcyMist's journal like this ...
