need to buy a printer TODAY

or tomorrow, latest. i have a beast of a large format laser, that is sick. while i try to figure out whether to replace it, junk it, or what, i need something for right now. (best case scenario is that i manage to fix it, but still have a several day wait for parts. but likely scenario is a megabuck visit from the xerox man.)
i could pick up a cheap inkjet for what i need now. but i would rather get a small laser that can double side, which i cannot do on the best, even manually. that capacity is worth $1-200 to me.
i use the large format a lot. printing the art for my buttons is a lot more efficient on tabloid size, but i COULD live without it. i do do a lot of poster-type printing for good causes. this is what i would miss the most. but i can get those done at the local kinkos. i could print a whole lot of pages for what it is going to cost me to get that beast running again.
anyway, the question is, please recommend a laser printer, or comment on the different brands out there. i am looking at micro center, as they have the best service, imho.

the availability of parts besides just toner carts is a plus. and they are pretty reasonable for their capacity. (although i do refill.)

I've got a samsung black and white laser printer, it has sub-par quality but I got that ridiculously cheap one ($80 on sale new) I just wanted a cheap fast way to print up text and I use other printers for graphics. It works well for what I needed and the price but I'm not sure how there other printers are.

2. I've got a Samsung CLP-510

Prints pretty good as far as I'm concerned. The main feature is the duplexer so that i don't have to reinsert to print the other side. It's not the best but for $270 that i paid for it, i ain't complaining. So far it's done everything I've wanted it to without glitching. I'm trying to convince a friend to scrap out his Minolta 6100 since it needs a new drum and he just bought a $5k HP large format for his non-profit. I can put in a drum and refurbish it and get me a decent printer for about $500 total-I hope.

4. the print quality seems adequate

i checked it out at the store, and i think it will do me fine. for the price it is hard to beat. even without the duplex. unfortunately, they did not have it in stock.
i ended up buying an epson 1800, which will satisfy my occasional needs for large format. got a good deal on an open box. and an inkjet actually suits some of my needs better that the giant laser beast. the newer inks, on good paper, should be archivally adequate.
i will pick up the samsung next week. some things i do need that laser.

3. Got a Costco nearby?

They don't list any on their website, but I could swear I saw a couple laser printers on the floor. Good prices, too. I picked up a multifunction inkjet for 50 bucks.

5. got a costco, love my costco, but

love my microcenter more. good prices, and just the best, most knowledgeable staff, and superior warranties. if you buy the extended warranty, and have to return something, they will just credit your purchase price against a replacement or upgrade. no spending weeks waiting for your nearly obsolete unit to be half fixed for you. sharper image does the same thing. these days, that is so the best way to go. i just had a major nightmare at best buy over a 2 and 1/2 year old laptop that i would have killed to pull the plug on.
