I was going to run Ad-Aware for my weekly check
when I was informed an upgrade was necessary. So I upgraded it, started running the program, and suddenly everything froze.
I rebooted, started running it again, and my computer crashed; that happened twice.
I have Windows XP and am using Firefox.
Has anyone else had any problems w/Ad-Aware?
PS Several critical items were discovered before the freeze but I couldn't delete/quarantine. :scared:
Thanks.

1. Nope no problems
Do you also run Spybot S&D? One program will find things the other don't. It's recommended that both programs are installed to keep your computer clean.
One thing you could do is go to add/remove programs and uninstall Ad-Aware then try a fresh install. Sounds like you got a bad install.

2. I did that, thanks, Berserker. The same thing happened though.
And yes, I was running Spypbot also, which worked. I do have a bunch of Vundo files quarantined because I don't know how to get rid of them. Pain in the butt!

3. Please follow this link
http://forums.techguy.org/54-security/
They will have you post a Hijackthis log. They will walk you step by step through the process. You will be able to clean Vundo off your computer.
Let us know how it goes.

4. I have a corporate version of Symantec working; will that
be affected if I follow that link? I hired some guys at $90/hour to get rid of it, and they couldn't/didn't.

5. No that link will not affect a thing
All they will do is have you down load Hijackthis and give you instructions to follow. And they will get rid of it for free. I am posting my personal Hijackthis log so you can see what one is. It simply tells what is on your computer both good and bad. Then they will give you instructions on what to do.

My Log:
