Teen saves sightless horse, finds competition winner By Christy Arnold
Enquirer staff writer ALEXANDRIA - Jenna McVey can't drive a car yet, but she can steer a blind horse.
The 16-year-old Fort Thomas girl recently astonished judges during a dressage event when she guided her horse, Blind Beauty, over bales of hay and a small bridge.
"We didn't know it was a blind horse until it was already on the course," said Mary Dobrin, a judge at the dressage event, a competition where the rider navigates the horse around obstacles.
With only a year of riding experience, Jenna led Blind Beauty along the course and into first place during the recent Cincinnati Dressage Company's 18th annual fall show at Paxton Farms in Batavia.
"This horse did everything this little girl wanted," Dobrin said. "I stood there with the three volunteers and we cried."
