My cat, Abbie, is only 8 months old but he is HUGE!!

I think he has some Maine Coon or Forest Cat in him somewhere. There isn't a real point of reference for his real size but you can just tell he is big. He is 10 lbs and the same size as my 7 year old kitty, Molly. His paws are baseball mitts. I don't know if paw size correlates to how big he will get but if it does, I am in serious trouble. He already tries to eat everything thing in the house.

2. The muzzle says Maine Coon, but the lack of lynx

tips and longer hair on the upper body says Norwegian or Siberian Forest cat. Maybe some of both? If he's part of any of those breeds, he'll keep growing until he's 4 1/2 years or so. Sure is a handsome boy!

Having a big cat isn't so bad, except when they jump on you to wake you up in the morning. Ouch!

3. Something else to consider

large breeds can develop hip and joint problems fairly easily. You may want to start feeding Abbie something like Royal Canin's Maine coon formula cat food with glucosamine and chondroitin



or a treat with the same supplements in it, like Zuke's Hip Action natural cat treats. Best to fend off troubles before they start!

5. Big feet aren't an indicator

At least not in this house. Our Amber, when we got her, was a tiny furry kitten with great big feet. We thought she had some Coon in her, judging by this. Two years later, she's a six pound fuzz ball with freakishly large feet and claws that would make a lynx proud. Getting a massage from her is an excruciating experience, even wearing sweats.

He doesn't understand the concept of "working from home" as you can see. When I'm home it's his time! He's a good snuggler, talker and shoulder sitter.

it's amazing what a cat can do to your computer when you work at home, lol!

Right now, Oberon is sitting on my scanner, squinting at me lovingly. Sometimes he hits that scanner hard enough that he rips all the plugs out! There are hazards with having cats in your home office, but would we have it any other way?

12. 3 1/2 years or so

Most Forest cats (Norwegians, MCs and Siberians) take up to five years to fully mature (females can mature in as little as three years). Their coats don't really fill out until 2-3 years, so Abbie is going to get a lot furrier!
