1. Wow. Congratulations.

If my response is a bit subdued it is because I am an adopted adult and a 'product' of the closed adoption system. My birthmother could not keep me without support, and she did not get that support. I was in foster care from birth, relinquished for adoption at 11 months of age, and placed for adoption at 21 months. My adoptive parents 'discouraged me' from thinking about my birthparents, so I didn't. I searched after my adoptive parents died and found out all that I will ever know about my birthmother -- she died 4 months after placing me for adoption. I detest the closed adoption laws.

Your son is a lucky young man and I send the both of you many good wishes as you get to know each other...
