The time has come to either trim or shave Quinns butt.

Damn cat has to shit then sit in it and stick it to his damned fur then stink up the house while he runs around waving the clump proudly.

GRRRRR. I need a second set of hands to hold him while I trim . . . anyone in the Lowell, Mass area available to immobilize a cat? :)

1. A friend of mine had Persians

Her vet told her to always keep the butt trimmed on them. One time her cat Mark couldn't even eliminate because of the hair, so she trimmed the butt hairs every week. See if trimming rather than shaving might do the trick.

Is there anyone you know whom he likes and trusts that could help? Maybe a girlfriend as male cats like women?

3. You can always try a pillowcase

stuff Quinn in head first. They also sell inexpensive pet trimmers at Target. I bought one for Oberon, but so far he hasn't had that problem. Don't know why; he has a VERY hairy ass!

9. How old IS Oberon?

If he's young, he probably won't have the furry ass, but wait until he's about 4 or 5--then watch the fur grow!! This is exactly what happened to my Sylvester.

He's already huge, with an enormous ruff and fluffy britches. I need to take some new photos; he's really filled out since the cold weather settled in. Yeah, I know...they just keep growing for YEARS!

you trim his nails first (first front, then back), that way you cut down on the paw-dagger action.

5. And while both of you struggle with him, wear heavy work gloves

even with leather ones, our cat bit through and into my thumbnail whenwe had to give her pills for a while. Cat bites are extra nasty. That is why they charge so much at a groomer to work on cates ($60 here!), and that was at Petsmart. They said a cat bite can cost a groomer two weeks work and medical bills. We had to actually take her there for a matting problem a while back. You could also try one of those elizabethan collars they sell at some pet stores and vets offices. He wouldn't be able to reach his butt with that. They were $15 for a dog's fairly large one. I'd spring for having him shaved. Maybe they'd charge less to do only that. It shouldn't grow long too quickly.

about as hard as trimming my hamster's fur. Yes, I trim her fur. It's long in weird spots.
